About
Kevin Carter (1960-1994) was a South African photojournalist and member of the Bang-Bang Club, a group of photographers who documented township violence during the final years of apartheid. He won the Pulitzer Prize in 1994 for his photograph of a starving child in Sudan, an image that sparked ethical debate. Haunted by the violence and suffering he witnessed, he died by suicide in 1994.
