About
Kazuo Ishiguro is a British novelist born in Nagasaki, Japan, in 1954. He moved to England at the age of five. A graduate of the University of Kent and the University of East Anglia, he published his first novel, *A Pale View of Hills*, in 1982. He is known for his novels exploring memory, time, and self-delusion, often narrated by unreliable first-person narrators. His novel *The Remains of the Day* won the Booker Prize in 1989. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2017 for his novels of great emotional force that uncover the abyss beneath our illusory sense of connection with the world. He was knighted in 2018.
