Karin Kneissl, born January 18, 1965, in Vienna, is an Austrian journalist, diplomat, and politician. After studying law and Arabic at the University of Vienna, she earned a doctorate in international law in 1991. She served in the Austrian diplomatic service from 1990 to 1998, then worked as a freelance journalist and lecturer. From December 2017 to June 2019, she was Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs in Sebastian Kurz's government, while also chairing the OSCE. She is the author of numerous works on geopolitics and the Middle East. Since 2023, she has headed the G.O.R.K.I. Center at St. Petersburg State University.
