Juninho Pernambucano, full name Antônio Augusto Ribeiro Reis Júnior, is a former Brazilian attacking midfielder born on January 30, 1975, in Recife. Regarded as one of the greatest free-kick specialists in football history, he holds the record for most free-kick goals in professional football. He excelled at Vasco da Gama (1995-2001), winning the 1998 Copa Libertadores, and at Olympique Lyonnais (2001-2009), where he secured seven consecutive French league titles. An international for Brazil (40 caps), he won the 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup. After retiring in 2014, he became a commentator and then sporting director of Lyon (2019-2021).
