About
John Lithgow is an American actor born in 1945 in Rochester, New York, into a theatrical family. A Harvard graduate in 1967, he made his Broadway debut in 1973 and won two Tony Awards. Nominated twice for Oscars for 'The World According to Garp' (1982) and 'Terms of Endearment' (1983), he has won six Emmy Awards, notably for '3rd Rock from the Sun' and 'The Crown'. In 2024, he received a Laurence Olivier Award for his portrayal of Roald Dahl. He is also an author of children's books and a memoir.
