John Grisham is an American novelist, master of the legal thriller. Born in Arkansas, he practiced law and served in the Mississippi legislature before turning to writing. His first novel, A Time to Kill, was rejected by 28 publishers before finding success. His second, The Firm, propelled him to worldwide bestseller status. He has published over 50 novels, often adapted into films, and advocates for the exoneration of the wrongfully convicted.
