Joe Pesci, born Joseph Frank Pesci on February 9, 1943, in Newark, New Jersey, is an American actor. He began his career as a child on radio and television, then recorded a jazz album under the name Joe Ritchie. After various odd jobs, he was noticed in a low-budget crime film, leading to a recommendation to Martin Scorsese. He received an Oscar nomination for Raging Bull (1980) and won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for Goodfellas (1990). He is also known for his roles in Home Alone, Lethal Weapon, My Cousin Vinny, and Casino. After announcing retirement in 1999, he returned for The Irishman (2019), earning a third Oscar nomination.
