About
Joan Collins is an English actress, author and columnist, born on 23 May 1933 in London. Trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, she made her stage debut at age nine and signed with the Rank Organisation at 17, then with 20th Century Fox. She appeared in more than 70 films, including Land of the Pharaohs (1955). She gained international fame as Alexis Carrington in the television series Dynasty (1981-1989), a role that earned her a Golden Globe in 1983. A prolific author, she has published over 18 books, including her autobiography Past Imperfect (1978) and her novel Prime Time (1988). She was appointed OBE in 1997 and Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2015.
