Jim Carrey, born January 17, 1962, in Newmarket, Ontario, is a Canadian-American actor and comedian. He began stand-up comedy at 15 in Toronto clubs and moved to Los Angeles at 19. He rose to fame on the sketch-comedy series In Living Color (1990–1994). In 1994, he had a breakout year with three hits: Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Mask, and Dumb and Dumber. He won two Golden Globe Awards for his dramatic roles in The Truman Show (1998) and Man on the Moon (1999), and earned critical acclaim for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004). He became a dual citizen in 2004. He also works as a painter, sculptor, and author, publishing the children's book How Roland Rolls in 2013.
