Jean-Pierre Bacri, born in 1951 in French Algeria and died in 2021 in Paris, was a French actor and screenwriter. After leaving his job as a bank clerk, he trained at the Cours Simon. He met Agnès Jaoui in 1987, with whom he formed a major creative duo in French cinema. Together they wrote the screenplays for films such as Smoking/No Smoking, Un air de famille, On connaît la chanson, and Le Goût des autres, which won numerous César Awards. Bacri was also recognized for his acting, notably in roles of a sensitive grumbler.
