James Franco, born April 19, 1978, in Palo Alto, California, is an American actor, director, screenwriter, producer, and writer. He gained recognition through the television series Freaks and Geeks (1999-2000) and won his first Golden Globe for his portrayal of James Dean in the television biopic James Dean (2001). He achieved international fame as Harry Osborn in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy (2002-2007). His performance in 127 Hours (2010) earned him an Academy Award nomination. He won a second Golden Globe for The Disaster Artist (2017), which he also directed.
