Jamel Debbouze, born June 18, 1975 in Paris, is a French-Moroccan actor, comedian, producer and director. Eldest of six children from a family originally from Taza, he grew up in Trappes. In 1990, he lost the use of his right arm in a train accident. Discovered by Radio Nova in 1995, he hosted the show Le Cinéma de Jamel. He became known to the general public through the series H on Canal+ (1998-2002). He received two César nominations for Best Supporting Actor for Amélie (2002) and Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra (2003). In 2006, he won the Best Actor Prize at the Cannes Film Festival for Days of Glory, shared with the rest of the cast. He created the Jamel Comedy Club in 2006 and founded the Jamel Debbouze Foundation the same year.
