About
Italo Calvino was an Italian writer born in Cuba in 1923 and died in 1985. A Resistance fighter during World War II, he began with a neorealist novel, then turned to allegorical and fantastic narratives. He is known for the Our Ancestors trilogy, Invisible Cities, and If on a Winter's Night a Traveler. An editor at Einaudi, he also collected Italian folktales. His essays collected in Six Memos for the Next Millennium reflect on literature.
