Hugh Winder Nibley (1910-2005) was an American historian and professor at Brigham Young University. A specialist in ancient scripture and ancient history, he dedicated his career to defending the sacred texts of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A polyglot fluent in over ten languages, he served in military intelligence during World War II. Author of numerous books and articles, he is regarded as one of the most influential Mormon apologists of his generation.
