Hervé Villechaize

Hervé Villechaize was a French-born American actor, born in Paris in 1943 and died in 1993. He had proportionate dwarfism and stood 3 ft 11 in (1.19 m). After studying painting at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he emigrated to the United States in 1964. He gained recognition in film as Nick Nack in the James Bond movie The Man with the Golden Gun (1974), then became famous on television for his role as Tattoo in the series Fantasy Island (1978–1983). His catchphrase "De plane! De plane!" became iconic in TV history. He was nominated for a Golden Globe in 1982. Fired in 1983 after demanding equal pay with his co-star, he faced professional and personal difficulties, and committed suicide in 1993.
