About
Henri Salvador (1917-2008) was a French artist born in French Guiana, of Guadeloupean descent. His career spanned over 70 years, from 1930s Paris cabarets to his final concert in 2007. He accompanied Django Reinhardt, collaborated with Boris Vian on over 400 songs, and contributed to the early French rock 'n' roll. His song 'Dans mon île' influenced bossa nova. After a quieter period, he made a major comeback with the album 'Chambre avec Vue' (2000). He also recorded for children and voiced Sebastian in Disney's 'The Little Mermaid'.
