Giorgio Agamben, born April 22, 1942, in Rome, is a major figure in contemporary continental philosophy. After studying law and philosophy at the University of Rome, he attended Martin Heidegger's seminars in Freiburg and worked at the Warburg Institute in London. He has taught at several Italian universities and at the Collège International de Philosophie in Paris.
