About
Gerard 't Hooft is a Dutch theoretical physicist, Nobel laureate in physics in 1999 with Martinus Veltman for their work on the quantum structure of electroweak interactions. In 1971, he proved the renormalizability of Yang-Mills gauge theories, laying the mathematical foundation for the Standard Model. He also developed dimensional regularization and the holographic principle. Professor at Utrecht University since 1977, he has received numerous awards, including the Wolf Prize in 1981 and the Spinoza Prize in 1995.
