About

Gérard de Villiers, born December 8, 1929 in Paris and died October 31, 2013, was a French writer, creator of the SAS (His Serene Highness) series featuring Malko Linge, an Austrian aristocrat and CIA agent. A graduate of Sciences Po and the École supérieure de journalisme de Paris, he worked as a journalist and foreign correspondent for France Soir. In 1965, he launched SAS in Istanbul, the first of 200 novels published until 2013. His novels, sold over 100 million copies worldwide, incorporated real information gleaned from diplomats and intelligence services, sometimes anticipating events like the assassination of Anwar Sadat or the war in Syria.
