About
Gareth Jones, born on 13 August 1905 in Barry, Wales, was a British investigative journalist. After studying at Aberystwyth and Cambridge, he served as private secretary to David Lloyd George. In 1933, he traveled to the USSR and documented the famine in Ukraine (Holodomor), which he exposed at a press conference in Berlin. His reporting was discredited by New York Times correspondent Walter Duranty. Jones was murdered in Inner Mongolia in 1935. He was posthumously honored by Ukraine.
