Gad Elmaleh, born April 19, 1971 in Casablanca, is a Moroccan-Canadian comedian and actor of Sephardic Jewish heritage. He moved to Montreal in 1988, then to Paris in 1992, where he trained at the Cours Florent. He achieved success with his one-man shows 'Décalages' (1996) and 'La Vie Normale' (1999). He was the first French-speaking comedian to tour the United States with 'L'autre c'est moi' (2005). In film, he appeared in 'La Vérité si je mens! 2' (2000), 'Chouchou' (2002), 'Midnight in Paris' (2011), and directed 'Coco' (2009) and 'Reste un peu' (2022). He was named Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters in 2006 and Knight of the National Order of Quebec in 2017.
