About
Freddie Mercury, born Farrokh Bulsara in Zanzibar, spent his childhood in India before settling in England. In 1970, he formed Queen with Brian May and Roger Taylor, joined by John Deacon in 1971. He wrote many of the band's hits, including 'Bohemian Rhapsody', and was acclaimed for his stage presence and voice. He also had a solo career and collaborated with Montserrat Caballé. He died of AIDS in 1991.
