Françoise Sagan, born Françoise Marie Anne Quoirez in 1935 in Cajarc, was a French novelist and playwright. She achieved phenomenal success with her first novel, 'Bonjour tristesse', published in 1954 when she was 18, which won the Prix des Critiques and became an international bestseller. She wrote numerous novels, plays, and autobiographical works, exploring themes of love, boredom, and freedom. An emblematic figure of French cultural life, she also engaged in causes such as abortion rights. She died in 2004 in Honfleur.
