About

Françoise d'Eaubonne (1920-2005) was a prolific French writer, author of more than fifty works, including novels, essays, poetry, biographies, and science fiction. She is best known for coining the term 'ecofeminism' in her essay *Le Féminisme ou la mort* (1974). Engaged in the Resistance during World War II, she later campaigned within the Women's Liberation Movement (MLF) and the Homosexual Front for Revolutionary Action (FHAR). She signed the Manifesto of the 343 and the Manifesto of the 121. She founded the Ecology-Feminism Center in Paris in 1972 and the association Écologie et Féminisme in 1978. Her work explores the links between the oppression of women and the destruction of the environment.
