About
Fyodor Sologub, born Fyodor Kuzmich Teternikov, was a major Russian writer of the Symbolist movement. Born in St. Petersburg in 1863, he worked as a mathematics teacher before devoting himself to literature. His most famous novel, The Petty Demon (1907), was a great success. He also authored poetry collections such as The Burning Circle (1908) and the trilogy The Created Legend (1907-1914). His work explores dark and pessimistic themes characteristic of the fin de siècle. After the revolution, he remained in Russia and died in Leningrad in 1927.
