About

Felice Romani (1788-1865) was an Italian poet and librettist, regarded as the finest librettist between Metastasio and Boito. He collaborated with the leading composers of his time, including Bellini, Donizetti, Rossini, and Verdi. His librettos for Bellini, such as Norma and La sonnambula, are masterpieces of bel canto. He also worked as a music critic and directed the Gazzetta Ufficiale Piemontese.
