About
Eduardo Mendoza is a Spanish writer born in Barcelona in 1943. After studying law and sociology, he worked as a translator at the United Nations in New York from 1973 to 1982. His first novel, The Truth about the Savolta Case (1975), is considered a key work of the Spanish democratic transition. He is notably the author of The City of Marvels (1986) and a comic series featuring a mad detective. Winner of the Planeta Prize (2010), the European Book Prize (2013), and the Kafka Prize (2015), he received the Cervantes Prize in 2016.
