Eduard Limonov, born Eduard Veniaminovich Savenko on February 22, 1943, in Dzerzhinsk (USSR), was a Russian writer and politician. A dissident, he was expelled from the USSR in 1974 and lived in New York and Paris. His semi-autobiographical novel *It's Me, Eddie* (1979) was a success. In 1993, he founded the National Bolshevik Party, mixing far-left and far-right ideology, banned in 2007. Convicted of illegal arms possession in 2001, he was released in 2003. A figure of opposition to Putin, he supported the annexation of Crimea in 2014. He died in Moscow on March 17, 2020.
