About

Dominique Venner, born in Paris in 1935, was a French historian and essayist. A paratrooper during the Algerian War, he joined the OAS and was imprisoned. In the 1960s, he co-founded the nationalist movement Europe-Action and the Institut d'Études Occidentales. From 1971 onward, he devoted himself to writing historical works, particularly on military and political history. In 2002, he founded the journal La Nouvelle Revue d'Histoire. His suicide in 2013 at Notre-Dame de Paris, in protest against same-sex marriage, sparked controversy.
