Daniel Tammet is a British writer, poet and mathematician, born on 31 January 1979 in London. Diagnosed with autistic savant syndrome in 2004, he set a European record by reciting 22,514 decimal places of pi from memory. His first book, Born on a Blue Day (2006), became an international bestseller. He has published several works, including essays, a novel and poetry collections, translated into more than 30 languages. He has lived in France since 2008.
