Daniel Cohn-Bendit, born April 4, 1945, in Montauban, is a French-German politician. An iconic figure of the May 68 protests in France, where he was nicknamed 'Dany the Red', he later became involved in Germany with the Green Party (Die Grünen). He served as deputy mayor of Frankfurt and then as a Member of the European Parliament from 1994 to 2014, co-chairing the Greens/EFA group. He is known for his commitment to political ecology and European federalism.
