Son of singer Cuba Gooding Sr., he started as a breakdancer before breaking through in film with Boyz n the Hood (1991). He won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for Jerry Maguire (1996), where his ad-libbed line 'Show me the money!' became iconic. He went on to star in films such as A Few Good Men, As Good as It Gets, Men of Honor, Pearl Harbor, Radio, American Gangster, The Butler, and Selma.
