About
Cristian Mungiu is a Romanian filmmaker born in 1968 in Iași. After studying English literature, he trained in directing at UNATC in Bucharest. A leading figure of the Romanian New Wave, he won the Palme d'Or in 2007 for 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days, and the Best Director prize in 2016 for Graduation. His cinema, marked by long takes and stark realism, explores moral dilemmas in post-communist Romania.
