Christopher Eric Hitchens was an English-American author and journalist. Born in Portsmouth, England, he studied Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at Oxford University. He emigrated to the United States in 1981 and became a U.S. citizen in 2007. He was known for his incisive essays on politics, religion, and culture. He contributed to publications such as Vanity Fair, The Atlantic, Slate, and The Nation. His major works include God Is Not Great, Hitch-22, and The Trial of Henry Kissinger. He died of esophageal cancer in 2011.
