About
Christina Georgina Rossetti, born on 5 December 1830 in London, was the youngest of four children of the Italian poet Gabriele Rossetti. Associated with the Pre-Raphaelite movement, she published her early poems in the magazine The Germ. Her collection Goblin Market and Other Poems (1862) established her reputation. Influenced by the Oxford Movement, her poetry explores religious themes and the condition of women. She died of breast cancer on 29 December 1894 in London.
