Stéphane Charbonnier, known as Charb, was a French satirical cartoonist and journalist born on August 21, 1967 in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine and assassinated on January 7, 2015 in Paris during the attack on Charlie Hebdo. He joined the satirical weekly in 1992 and became its director of publication and editor-in-chief in 2009.
