About
Cécile Aubry, born Anne-José Madeleine Henriette Bénard in Paris in 1928, began her career as an actress in the 1940s. She gained attention in Clouzot's Manon (1949), then appeared in The Black Rose (1950) and Bluebeard (1952). After a secret marriage to Si Brahim El Glaoui, she retired from acting in 1959. She then turned to writing for young audiences, creating the television series Poly (1961) and Belle et Sébastien (1965), with her son Mehdi in the lead roles. Her children's novels were published in the Bibliothèque Rose and Verte collections by Hachette. She died in 2010 in Dourdan.
