About
Caroline Bouvier Kennedy, born November 27, 1957, in New York City, is the only surviving child of President John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. A graduate of Radcliffe College (Harvard) in 1980 and Columbia Law School in 1988, she is the author or editor of several bestselling books, including In Our Defense (1991) and The Right to Privacy (1995). She served as U.S. Ambassador to Japan from 2013 to 2017, the first woman to hold that post, and as U.S. Ambassador to Australia from 2022 to 2024. She is Honorary President of the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation and co-creator of the Profile in Courage Award.
