Carol Burnett, born April 26, 1933, in San Antonio, Texas, is an American actress and comedian. She rose to fame with her variety show, The Carol Burnett Show (1967-1978), which won over 25 Emmy Awards. She also shone on Broadway in Once Upon a Mattress (1959) and in the film Annie (1982). Honored with numerous awards, including the Kennedy Center Honor (2003) and the Presidential Medal of Freedom (2005), she is considered a television pioneer.
