Bill Cosby, born July 12, 1937, in Philadelphia, is an American actor, comedian, and producer. He broke racial barriers on television by becoming the first Black actor to star in a leading dramatic role in a series, I Spy (1965-1968), for which he won three consecutive Emmy Awards. He created and produced the hit sitcom The Cosby Show (1984-1992), which ranked number one in the ratings for five seasons. He also created the animated educational series Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids (1972-1985). Cosby has received numerous awards, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2002. In 2018, he was found guilty of sexual assault, but his conviction was overturned in 2021.
