About
Barbara Cartland, born in 1901 in Birmingham, was one of the most prolific novelists of the 20th century. She published over 700 novels, mainly historical romances, translated into dozens of languages. Active in public life, she served as a Conservative councillor and campaigned for better nursing care. During World War II, she led women's welfare in Bedfordshire. Knighted in 1991, she died in 2000, leaving many unpublished manuscripts.
