Anne Wiazemsky, born May 14, 1947 in Berlin and died October 5, 2017 in Paris, was a French writer, actress and director. Granddaughter of François Mauriac, she made her film debut at 18 in Robert Bresson's Au hasard Balthazar. She married Jean-Luc Godard in 1967 and starred in several of his films. After a prolific acting career, she turned to writing, publishing over a dozen novels with Gallimard. She won the Prix Goncourt des Lycéens for Canines and the Grand Prix du roman de l'Académie française for Une poignée de gens. Her autobiographical novels about her marriage to Godard were adapted into film.
