Anna Gavalda, born on December 9, 1970 in Boulogne-Billancourt, is a French writer. After a master's degree in literature from the Sorbonne, she taught French before devoting herself to writing. Her first collection of short stories, Je voudrais que quelqu'un m'attende quelque part, was published in 1999 and won the Grand Prix RTL-Lire in 2000. Her novels, including Ensemble, c'est tout (2004), have been widely successful and translated into more than thirty languages. She also contributes to Elle magazine.
