About

Alberto Manguel is an Argentine-Canadian writer, translator, and anthologist born in Buenos Aires in 1948. He worked as a reader for Jorge Luis Borges in the 1960s. Settled in Canada in 1982, he is the author of numerous essays on reading and libraries, including 'A History of Reading' (1996), which won the Prix Médicis essai. He directed the National Library of Argentina from 2016 to 2018 and taught at the Collège de France. He lives in Lisbon, where he directs the Center for Research on the History of Reading.
