Albert Dupontel, real name Philippe Guillaume, is a French actor, director and screenwriter born on 11 January 1964 in Saint-Germain-en-Laye. Trained in theatre under Antoine Vitez, he began as a press cartoonist before turning to stand-up comedy and film. His first feature film, Bernie (1996), was nominated for the César for Best First Film. He won the César for Best Original Screenplay for 9 mois ferme (2014), the César for Best Director for Au revoir là-haut (2018), and then those for Best Film, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay for Adieu les cons (2021).
