Agatha Christie, born Agatha Mary Clarissa Miller in Torquay in 1890, is a world-renowned British novelist known for her detective fiction. She created the detectives Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple. Her first novel, 'The Mysterious Affair at Styles' (1920), launched her career. She also wrote under the pseudonym Mary Westmacott. Her play 'The Mousetrap' holds the record for the longest-running performance. Her books have sold over two billion copies and have been translated into about 100 languages. She died in 1976.
